Get To Know Me

By Liam Gillin

Hey everyone! Welcome to my website where I showcase all my creative endeavors. My name is Liam Gillin, an NYC based photographer and videographer who specializes in stop motion and mixed media animation in the music industry. I know it’s quite the mouthful to say even I slip up saying it too.

Let’s start off with 10 fun facts about me to break the ice because I am more than just my job and the work I put out there. These experiences are what shape me as a human being:

  1. I love cartoons and watch them all the time. My favorites include Family Guy, Charlie Brown, Fairly OddParents, and Spongebob. The two characters I feel I can relate to the most is Charlie Brown and Timmy Turner. I wanted to look like Charlie Brown so bad as a kid I tried to cut all my hair off when no one was looking. At four years old, I thought it was genius but my parents thought otherwise. Let’s just say that I have never heard my mom scream so loud in her life.

  2. Going on walks is one of my favorite activities. Whether it’s on the beach, rushing through the busy streets of NYC, or in a small town late at night, it provides a comfort to me.

  3. My favorite flavor of Coke is Cherry Vanilla. I am including this because the flavor is challenging to find (bonus points if it’s the Zero Sugar kind).

  4. I was born and raised on Long Island (see how I said ON Long Island not IN Long Island). All I got to say is that it’s a very interesting place to grow up.

  5. I went to Marist College (now University) as a Film and TV Studies Major with a minor in Graphic Design. My time there was one of the happiest times in my life.

  6. A lot of people think I’m 100% Irish but that is not the case at all. I’m also German and British as well.

  7. Speaking of Irish, I also have red hair and blue eyes which fun fact is the rarest genetic combination in the world.

  8. In high school, I was voted “Most Likely To Become Famous,” not sure for what but we will just wait and see.

  9. I like to draw and color when I can. I’ve been using the same sketchbook since 2018 and I am currently trying to finish it.

  10. If I was not a photographer/videographer, I most likely would be working at a bakery or an ice cream shop because I have the biggest sweet tooth. I have had people tell me they could see me as a lawyer or a historian too.

For the past four years, I have been working my way in the music industry doing all things creative. I have also been creating content on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram posting tutorials and advice videos. You can head to my “About Me” page to read a bit more on the clients I’ve worked with and other endeavors. As of January 2026, I have stepped back in order to prioritize my art and client work. Lately, I have been reading a lot more in order to improve my media literacy and critical thinking skills. One author who has inspired me is Austin Kleon who wrote exceptional books such as “Keep Going,” and “Steal Like an Artist.” He wrote about using your website not only to showcase your work but also your thoughts. A lot of folks think I am all about filming and editing. Do not get me wrong, I love to sit for hours as I blast a Y2K nostalgia podcast and edit the night away but I also have a deep infatuation with writing.

These are two of the four journals that I use on a daily basis.

I’ve kept journals since I was 9 years old. I used to perform in slam poetry nights all the time in high school. I also have written reviews of albums and interviewed artists that I’ve enjoyed. One of the crucial parts of my routine is to write 3 pages a day of whatever is on my mind, it truly does wonders for me. Do not be fooled though, I do not plan to make writing a career. I find it important that as a creative person you have at least a few creative hobbies that are just that: hobbies.

This blog will be my personal and professional stream of conscious. A way to tell stories about my journey. A place to showcase my thoughts on the industry. A way to improve my storytelling skills in order to produce work that I am proud of. One of the best things about having your own website is the permanence behind it. Social media platforms will come and go, but your website and email will always stay (another insightful lesson I learned from Austin Kleon).

I’m excited for this journey ahead and what I write about along the way. See you soon everyone and thank you!
